ArticlesIan Wright Quotes
We love to hate him - here's some drivel from ex-Arsenal and England forward, Ian Wright.
'Without being too harsh on David Beckham, he cost us
the match.'
'It took a lot of bottle for Tony (Adams) to own up.'
"I've got the passion but no idea of tactics - I'd be like a black Kevin
Keegan."
Ian Wright stakes his claim for the England job. "The club has literally exploded."
"I'm an emotional person and I enjoy crying. You know the film Beaches with
Bette Midler and Barbara Hershey? Sometimes, when I want a good cry, I put it
on."
"When Arsene came to Arsenal he took complete control of our diets. We were
allowed no salt, no fat and no sugar, in the end you wanted to play a team like
Milwall so that someone would throw a banana at you just so you could have
somthing to eat."
'My name is usually the one on the end of people's lips.'
'I'm five short [of the Arsenal goalscoring record] - not that I'm
counting.'
'I don't make predictions. I never have done and I never will do.'
"Well I think, definitely, in the second half they came out with a better attitude but I think I've seen Chelsea play a few times and they don't really play a lot more. Their tempo's not much more than they started there but they just didn't have the width. They still tried to play the ball to the strength but all the men are in that middle, so that's when they, that's where they're playing all the balls to. Now whether they're mental, I don't know what he means by that, whether they can, the intensity or what, even if they did start sharp, the men are still in the same places so they couldn't get the width. And that's what I couldn't understand."
